comments:  Birdseye maple is a classic wood for fine furniture.  It works for art and craft works as well, with the advantage that a small three-dimensional object requires planes and surfaces that cut the wood grain from many angles in the same piece. The variety of beautiful and different patterns thus revealed in birdseye maple is truly gratifying, and well illustrated in these candleholders.  The ebony and purpleheart base structure provides an appealing, if somewhat unadorned and severe, contrast with the frisky birdseye pattern of the maple.  Copper liners are provided for the candle holes.
