comments:  Most woods described as red, although they may be beautiful in themselves (e.g. Western redwood), don't really approach true red in hue and display a major brown component. Clear-finished satine yields an outstandingly real red color with unusually well delineated light and dark growth rings, an exceptionally fine combination. Not surprisingly, satine is often called bloodwood. These three candleholders are similar but not identical, and are members of my Nugget series of candleholders. This series features small and compact works, usually of a single wood and usually rounded. They serve to showcase the individual wood as the dominant aspect of a simple, organic design.
