comments: Classical woodworking relys heavily on joinery. Joints, such as dovetails, mortise and tenon, and box joints, hold together most of the wooden furniture that we use. The color pattern on these candleholders arises from the two modified (and oversized) finger joints used to join the satine and ebony components. The intersection of the curved exterior surfaces with the interior zigzag joinery surfaces creates unexpected and striking decorative effects, significantly enhanced by the dramatic nature of both of these woods. These unique candleholderss are base-weighted to provide exceptional stability. They are sculpted by hand using a freeform technique and are one-of-a-kind.
